The trac has had a promblem holding studs, new type put in 98 is much better, trailing arms where recalled because of bad weilds, replaced by Yamaha with poor finish quality ones, started to rust very badly in 2 tears of use.Motor is the best starting of all in our club, very dependable, supeior perfomance and durability of all other manufactures for 500 series.I bought 2 more similiar vintage

This is really a fun sled that anyone can ride. You just pull the throttle and point the sled where you want to go, and it moves. The rear suspension was a little too tight for my tastes, so the dealer installed some after market shocks on front and rear and now the suspension behaves much better. I would buy another Viper, but have after market shocks installed.

I really like this sled. The power is incredible and have no complaints. Rear suspension is much better than the Viper, but not quite as good as the Polaris Edge. The inside ski lift is an issue though. It just will not hug the corners like my 2002 Viper. I have the RX-` into the dealer now to make the Yamaha recommended mods plus the dealer is doing something extra to make it better. Will wait and see on my next trip up north.

I have had a problem since day one with my Viper and have had into the dealer three times for the same problem and still no fix. It is still very hard starting even after the fuel pump mod. When cold no problem its after trail riding for many miles and letting it sit for an hour or so. At that point it is many pulls (at least 20)using all combinations. I have owned many Yamahas, so its not that I dont know how. Also after riding, coming to a stop and letting idle. I will go to 2500 rpm and after sitting there for a short time the RPM will start gaining, going to 4000 rpm. Clutch will start to engage and at that point, idle will drop back to 1500. Any help will be greatly appreciated. Tnks Jim

Had this sled for about a year now,and its a great machine. The engine of the sled is stock yet but i have added C & A Pro Sport skis, Hauck weight transfer control rods, new .75 track, low black windshield, and running board trim. Sled is really good performance wise, my XT will take a Polaris XC out of the hole everytime, i clocked it at 75 in 1100ft only 1 mph slower than a 2000 Arctic Cat ZR 600. Great sled, would never ride anything but a Yamaha.

Love the ride of this sled, front and rear work great. Blow through moguls faster and more comfortably than Vipers or Cats. Weight helps to right itself with little effort. On wide open areas it is a blast. Weight reduces top end. I have beaten srx's, f7's, vipers. I pulled up limiters and tightened control rods for minimizing ski lift while accelerating through turns. This sled performs best when you let off throttle at the beginning of the turn. The weight transfer picks up the rear and allows it to slide enough, while pushing the skis down for cornering. Play with those control rods before you go to limiter. You will see improvement. In the real tight twisties, the throttle let up is your best friend, but it is still top heavy. Vipers stay down and flat. Personally, I think this is the best stock suspension out there. I have switched with Vipers, ZR's and F7's and I like getting back on the RX. For Viper owners, add just a bit of throttle when you start. This should help. also, 20-30 pull guy, check and tighten fuel lines. You may be losing vacuum.

Thr ride still is terrible after the '03 upgrade to new "softer" shocks. I'm on the verge of selling it at a big loss. Otherwisee an awesome sled. I need help or a different sled. It is a sharp machine and of very good quality. My first and maybe my last Yamaha if I can't get the ride figured out. Polaris' M-10 is where I may be headed.

Sler was wrecked when 1 yr. old - fix it and am riding it to death(not pretty enough to sell or trade)Put Yamaha plastic skis ,shimmed ski saddle to put more weight on back of skis, put graphite slides on,put adjustable brake handle on- driven pulley put in3&3 and ramps highly polished(they were rough casting)rear suspension front shock wound as tight as I could get it & rear shock loosened as much as I could with out bottoming. Great trail sled but it was praised up to be a acceleration monster,it is pretty good dont get me wrong, but in 660 feet fully studed on ice it gets spanked by the 700 firecats. There is a lot of RX1's around here and they all find the same thing. they love there sleds but the dealers and magazines told us they couldent be touched in acceleration or top speed.

I am getting absolutely terrible gas mileage. Engine performance is bad as well, sometimes tops out at 50..had it up to 90 before. It's been sitting at the Yamaha dealer for a week and so far nothing. Carburetors appear to be fine (needle & seat works and floats aren't stuck) and fuel pump vacuum line doesn't smell like gas (diaphragm must be ok). Exhaust sometimes smells like gas or appears wet close to the engine. Any help?

Stock with bored carbs and Hauk transfer rods and dynoport silencer. Sled runs really good for a 1998. Looking to upgrade the track to a 1.25 predator in the summer. Just bought the sled this winter and put 500 miles on it. I don't really have any complaints other than the weight and lack of suspension travel but I knew that going into my purchase.

the viper is a great high perfomance trail sled, the triple powerplant provides more than enough juice for the trails. The ride is a little stiff sometimes, but when you are chewing up moguls that is when the suspension shows what it was made for. the down side to this sled is the overheating issue. Mine overheated the first day with less than 50 miles on it. I called the dealer, they told me to check a couple of things, then informed me I could add a rear cooling grid for 50.00 plus labor, I just spent 6500.00 for a new sled and now I have to pay more to fix someones design flaw. That is bad business on YAMAHA's behalf and will cost them sales in the future.

Roller Secondary, 48-38 Helix, silver/blue spring (what POLARIS) Heel Clickers, full shiftout and vent machined.V-Force Reeds,CPR pipes. Spiked the fuel.. Can anyone say 124+ top. Did the shock conversion and all is well. Still pissed that before the mods Yamaha wouldn't spring for the extra cooler this sled needs. Why do all the other W/C models come with one including the Viper Mountain? If you melt the slides? Try adding snow (HA HA) or drill out the slides. This will help keep moisture in the slide.

Haven't spent too much time on it this year because of the lousy snow conditions in northern michigan. I have noticed that the battery tends to lose its charge after sitting for a couple of weeks and then the speedo and tack go haywire until the battery is fully charged again. Also I've been hearing about the fuel pump freezing up quite a bit. Does Yamaha have a fix???

I bought my 2003 Grizzly right before deer hunting last year. The more I drive it the more I like it. Handling is great. Other pluses are: a tight turning radius, high ground clearance, locking differential, large gas tank, and an independent adjustable suspension. My only complaint right now is the vibration at idle, the sound level of the engine (seems louder than others) and she doesn’t start as easy as my ‘98 Big Bear. One other thing I wish it had was the ability to shift in and out of forward and reverse like the Rincon (for snowplowing). I have yet to use it heavily in the summer so I don’t know about over heating but the dealer said this problem was fixed on the 2003.

Anyone purchase the suspension upgrade for $189.00 that Yamaha offered back in Fall 2002? It supposedly softened up the suspension. I noticed a little bit of difference. Not much better though. Just want some others opinions on this subject. Also, with this upgrade was a third wheel. The plan for the extra wheel was to take a load off the slides. I personally had a big problem w/ the track welding itself to the slides. I had to pry them apart from one another. This wheel did seem to do the job. Just want some people to fall back on this subject also. Replies would be appreciated. Thanks

I love this machine! My first yamaha. Started well and ran well in -35 Cesius. I feel this machine will give any stock machine a run for its money. I wish it would have had the option of the inch and a quarter track. It sounds awsome! It may not corner as good as some other brands but this is not what this machine was made for. It was made to go fast on a lake into the upper C-notes. It corners good enough for me! I'm certainly no Blair Morgan. Yamaha has done well with this machine. Hats off to Yamaha!

Good sled, some drawbacks though, tippy in corners, poor hook up and hood wearing through.Took along time to dial in suspension.Hard to eliminate inside ski lift(can get right snakey on you very quickly).Sled will run all day at any speed, comfortable when set up right, fit finish and controls are excellent.Still need to go to after market to cure insde ski lift and hook up.Engine is fantastic and gas milage is great.Would I buy another one? The jury is still out.

the sxviper is the best sled i've ever rode. suspension is great as long as you adjust right and it handles great. the engine performance is flawless w/great throttle response. i don't understand why alot of viper owners are crying about the suspension, it just needs to be adjusted to the rider, its not hard to do.

I was really excited about driving this sled and now I think I made a huge mistake buying this. It seems a lot of people like theirs which is great but for my style it isn't very good. Like everyone else it is rough in the rear and terrible in the front on corners. Last week I tried a Ski-Doo Rev and it was better but as much as I hate to admit it the Firecat I took out was the best of the three. This is my third Yammie in 5 years and probably my last.

This sled looks and runs sweet. I am however used to more rear travel and better handling from Cats and Ski-Doo's. I don't think I will buy another Yammie till they upgrade the rear suspension.

I have SLP pipes," sounds great", heal cliker clutch primary & secondary. Theas mods give you tons of power worth the $.also have quik ajust maxmum transfer nuts.not sure yet if they are wourth the $.have a srx rear heat exchanger .I havent bin able to put the power to the snow just spin.considering pics 144.I have problem with the hood poping out on the sides when riding hard.this sled loves to be beat this is where the hard suspention shines.Allthow it is rough at speeds between 25&40 MPH thruw mogals.but loves it 40+mph.have had problem in deap powder with snow geting packed in ram air,but no big deal.had problem with ignition swicth last out.sled would only idle would not take the gas and headlight did not oporate.takeing back to dealer for repair

I have put 50 miles on the rx1 and have had the overheating light come on several times. Yamaha says this is ok and the light does not mean to stop riding just to find some fresh snow. Has any one else had any kind of over heating light problems. I was in west Yellowstone and there were 4 rx1 riders that were all having the problem. The dealer I bought from said two out of the three machines they have sold have the problem. If you are having this problem please let me know. Thanks

The sled is very good over all except I am very disappointed that I had to purchase a rear heat exchanger so that the sled would run on hard packed trails.I had the system rebled and still it overheated. Also the rear suspension can not be adjusted to ride good due to the shock valving. If I keep the sled I am going to have to buy the shock package.Yamaha is probably going to lose a customer because these are things that a customer should not have to do.

Wondering if anyone knows why this machine never starts on the first or second pull sometimes it takes three or four pulls evev when it is warm. The other thing would be the way the hood keeps popping over the body.Besides those the rest of the drive system with a few mods seems to work well.First yamaha i have owned in 20 yrs so i guess that not too bad .

Mine is still stock, I believe in enjoying my investment and expecting a certain amount of longevity due to no modifications. I love the power and the looks of the viper. Ergos suit me just fine. My complaints would be: -Stiff rear suspension ( I've rode softer machines that handle the monster moguls just fine) -Hood issues (c'mon, this is silly) -Has overheated in good conditions -Fuel pump froze up while riding in -10F -Most of all the way the dealers and Yamaha is handling these issues. I'm a first time Yamaha rider, so far its a love/ hate relationship. I love to be on this machine, too bad it came with so many quirks.

I am 5' tall and 100lbs. The only problem that I have is that I am not heavy enough to get the sliders to even move. The factory weight is for min. 150lbs.Would adjustable sliders help?? As far as the sled itself I love it.I will do some mods to the sled..pipes,reeds etc. But I can keep up with the boys in any conditions they take me in. The 700mmax gives me the power..even stock..and the most awesome ride when I'm in fresh deep powder..tree bashing..hill climbing..and for the first tome in all the years I've been riding I can crank that machine over very easily for some extreme sidehilling in the mountains, and in the powder to do some wind surfing. LOVE MY TOY.

Hits: full power band, top speed 120 MPH, great gas milage. Buddies gas up and oil $35.00, mine $16.00. I saved $250.00 on gas and oil on our recent Canada trip. Disappointments: Handling on tight trails, I played with the front suspension but still way to much inside ski lift. Could not stay with my SRX buddies on the tight corner trails. Need to change placement of hand warmers. Hard to adjust while riding. Overall a great sled. I can't wait till my next trip.

1) time to work on the suspension or offer an after market one as an option from the factory 2)put the ignition switch on the left 3) put the rocker switches for the hand and thumb warmers on the left bar( they could be smaller and rock left to right instead of up and down )/ This is a great sled and it is the future/ later

Ride was extremely hard when I purchased it and I've found that changing the lower control rod spacers and softening the preload on every spring it rides much nicer. I'm sure it won't feel quite as tight on the twisties on the creek, but not having a sore back after jumping will be nice! Give the spacers a try...the cost 5 bucks and its as easy as tipping it over and removing the bolt, pulling the shim off and replacing (remember to loc-tite the screws when assembling) everything.

This is my wifes sled though she can outride all of my friends. When we first got sled ride to stiff underpowered (compaired to her 98 600 srx). We also had the overheating complaints, fuel pump freeze up,hood pop out, seat to hard. We tried and failed to get anyware with yamaha. Ive taken matters into my own hands and now this is an awsome sled. I've installed bender triple pipes, bender rear heat exchanger(like srx yami wanted to save 5 pounds). Head gasket from bender to even cooling acrossed head, m10 rear skid with ohlins. ohlins on the front. Now she can stay with my blade 800 HPO

Last winter I rode with an XC 700 and couldn't pull away, come to find out, my power valves were stuck shut(too much carbon on them). I can't wait to show whose boss now. Happy trails.

My Viper has Bender Pipes and a Hi-tech roller so far. The season started out great with the only thing we were able to do was ride the trail and drag race across some of the meadows. It was nice that I was able to beat the Ski-Doo 800 summits one was ported and one of the other sleds I beat was the new REV 800 that was piped and had some other engine mods. Now the snow is deeper its not so great just need to figure out the clutch setup and it should be ok.

Tried the heel clickers and the heel x secondary. Brole the secondary after about 60 miles. Couldn't get the revs up with the clickers. Wroks great for trail and drag racing not in the mountains. Maybe with a lighter weight. Didn't like the super long spring as you can't get it out without taking off clutch. Also tried the Eckholm version of the expert rear suspension. Rides great on the trail..A little more tippy for fast running..but worth it in the mountains. Bent the upper shaft. and Larry has some new mods to fix. Track speed with the 156" and Bender ceramic pipes @7900 rpm was 68 klms Should be 80-85 when running 8700. Awesome sled.

Hi Jeff ( jamgully@yahoo.com) I checked out my transfer rods - they seem to be connected O.K. - Maybe you are right - bad batch of metal. Who knows?? I will keep a close vigalance on them. I've been riding fairly aggressively lately. The RX-1 has responded well in any given situation. The engine is performing extremely well (better with each outting). The suspesion is breaking in nicely. I'm not sure how to react to complaints about inside ski lift. The only time my skis lift is when I'm sitting way back on my seat and powering hard out of a turn - with no body english. Most aggressive riders hug the gas tank and place there body weight over the inside ski . This obviously helps keep the ski on the snow.My RX-1 is performing much better than any reports I previously read. I think Yamaha has made a great snowmobile.

Most of my miles was on grass and stand, breaking in motor, but the last 180 miles have been on all snow, first trip, not good,i dident change clutch around or gearing from grass setup had a old style hauk, speed ring w/ the concave sheave angle,i forgot and left it on while breaking trail thru wet heavy 9" of new snow, guess what happened,ya got it kaa poowee no more belt,oh well,i guess maybe i should of reinstalled my revets back into the weight and geared it back up,i can live w/ something i did,but the fu%%%% hyfax problem is begining to piss me off, this will be my 4th set that i need to put on,right now before next ride, its wearing bad at the caps and the beginning of rail tip only, wears the screws completely off,so ya have to yard the skid out to change them, the sliders i mean. Now i have had the straps real tight, and spring preload left stock,on front skid shock, and rods aet stock, or w/two lines showing, rear shock preloaded to number 7 setting and full rate set in middle, now i weigh 250 plus and ride very agressive, have inside ski lift, and have to hang out to keep them down,oh yea stock carbide 3" is flat to,now i have heard to relax preload on front skid shock, while i have straps pulled up,i will try that, plus i have cranked the ski shocks down about 1/2" should help ski lift, and will be installing new carbide 6" track is srx full cliped 3/4 cut down w/1" 120 woodys spread out evenly throughout track. Also can i adjust rods for less transfer to help w/ ski lift? Sled runs 122speedo w/me on snow road, and carbs were out of scynch and one boot off plus a plug wire sparking or shorting out, plus heat shield gone, studs love it,if not super tight, and that wouldnot have been a problem if not trying to save hyfax, any thoughts or comments, iam all out. pete

This sled has so much pulling power its sick! It pulls hard all the way up to the 10,000 RPM range. Now i know why its winning all the 1/4 mile races.I read in a mag that if a 4 banger were to compete against a 2 stroke it would be in somewhere around the 600 class!I don't think it will have any problem smoking those.I never had any problems yet except the 1'st set of plugs fouled.Gas mileage is great also even for a mtn sled.I can get 14kms/8.75miles on 2litres,thats 28kms per gal,so multiply that by 8(8gal tank)and that comes out to 224 kms per tank,if you compare it to the older vipers,max's,sx-r's 10 gal tank you would get 280 kms per tank thats about 175 miles. Not bad for a mtn sled w/ track bar tight and slides sticking on. Great sled, can't wait for more snow!!!

Sled was great in the quater no one could keep up. Wasn't that bad in the mountains. Found out at the end of the season that the engine couldn't take it. Ride was alright, not near enough clearence to the front bumper. Sled was fairly stable in the twisties. would possible consider this sled again if yamaha's warranty would cover anything.

I cant understand why i can't get my sled to ride smooth, i got all my shocks tested and springs measured and everything seems good. No matter how i adjust it it feels alot rougher than a friend of mines 2001. Does any one know if they changed shocks from 1999 to 2001 or have a good way to set it up for a 150 lbs person please email me.

This is to Dan w/RX-1: I am answering to your comment about the the suspension. I broke a control rod at 100 miles. I have heard of several others doing the same. The end that the upper shaft goes through broke in half. From what I hear Yamaha is trying to figure out why this is happening. I am thinking it is just a problem with the hardening of the steel. I never thought there would be a problem with the rear suspension since that has proven it's self since '97. Since you didn't leave your e-mail, I will be looking out for your response.

I just bought the sled, I put alot of money into the looks, now i'm wondering what to do for more performance, what would work better out of the two, (Power Reeds) or Reed Spacers, and does anyone know if a rumble pack sounds good and does anything?also, should I replace the piston rings at this many miles? Please e-mail me with info

Engine is awesome. Started good on cold mornings. Sled does not handle sharp tight turns very good. Does any one have any suggestions. Sled ran great all weekend. Gas mileage is great, no 2 stroke oil Ha HA Sled felt very light to me except in tight corners.

We rode east of Ironwood on Dec. 5-6th. Groomed and fast. I had a hard time following the break in period. The first 50 miles went at the recommended 6000 rpm but then..........well, let's just say I tried. I love this engine. It pulls and sounds great. Great fuel mileage and no two stroke oil smell. I would definately buy this sled again even though I had a couple of problems. The handling in tight turns was terrible. Very tippy on tight turns! I am an ex Ski-doo Mach Z rider (I do mean EX) and I don't know how to set this sled up. (What to do with shocks, weight transfer rods, and limiter strap.) I would greatly appreciate any setup ideas that may correct this handling problem. At high speeds the sled was very stable and it handled bumps well at all speeds. Just that tight turn, tipping problem. I experienced a couple of engine problems. They could be related. When fully warmed up my sled would not idle on its own and when you "punch it" it would hesitated when the temperature was between 4 and 10 degrees F. It did not hesitate at all on day two, about 25 to 28 degrees. Of course it would not idle at 25 degrees either. I think it is too lean. I finally got it to idle by using the fuel enrichener. I didn't think to try the enrichener while accelerating. I would like to hear from anyone who knows how to set up Yamaha suspensions. Thanks Mark
Webmaster Reply: Pull the limiter straps until the sleds suspension sits flat as you lower the rear of the sled down, once set take some preload off the front of the rear skid shock or it will be like a rock, try that 1st. Ride it and see how it is for cornering then, crank some preload into the front springs on the ski shocks, that should help a ton. I have also heard the Yamaha will be coming out with a sway bay for handling soon.

I read the comment about the RX-1 suspension coming apart - really hard to believe, but who can say? I checked mine out - no problems. Every bolt seems tight - all the rivets seem together - maybe someone is pulling our legs. I also own a 1998 SRX - 17,000km - no problem with the rivets or bolts. I can't think of any reason why the RX-1 suspension would not be just as reliable. I would like to here from anyone else out there with a RX-1 to make a comment. -- Thanks Dan

This sled pulls like a modified! The only problem is in the wind sreen design. At 40+ MPH you experience loud wind noise. If the wind screen was about six inches higher, the problem probably would be solved (I'm six feet tall). Starting in cold weather is not a problem ( minus 26C - full choke - turned the key - she was running instantly!) On my first trip out, I went 105 miles. It took 5 gallons to top her up. I'm sure the RX-1 will even get better mileage when the engine breaks in. The suspension is starting to loosen up (250 miles). The suspension has handled everything I've put to it. (no bottoming out) This is one incedible machine!!

Check the pop rivits that that are on your tunnel near the rear of the foot rail. They are coming out and will cause major suspension failer. My buddies suspension collapsed on the trail after 90 miles, my pop rivits are coming loose. Long with the suspension coming loose so does the rear of the tunnel. Yamaha has a major design error.

Real snappy right off the bat. Installed an attac system from holtzman.. far better than vari-flow or tempa-flow.. Even with fat jetting for the mountains(starting at 4000 up to 7250) real crisp. Am starting with heel clickers and the Heel X roller secondary. Too much weight at first. (4.3 canter--3.3 tip and 1.2 shoulder gray spring) under reving by 5-600 rpms. Have bender pipes waiting for it to get broke in. Love the headlights

many changes were made to make this sled excellent. under the hood, bender porting and pipes, vforce w/spacers peak head 145comp. air box mod holtzman vari-flow over drive primary clutch with heel clickers and heel clicker roller secondary.lite weight rotor and hub,23-37 gears. all changes here, very good performance. front end- outlaw hood, real light, alum. radius rods 44", carbon fiber trailing arms, works performance 9" travel shocks. toss the stabilizer off the front and valve the shocks to run without it, 6 lb. savings and much better ride. slt skis work great and are very lite. total weight savings on front end,37 lbs. at the rear, boss seat, excellent, m10 with ohlins, titanium torque arms on m10 suspension mounted 2" back in tunel for less angle to front drivers, crazy mt. extreem 136 extension w/8" rear wheels. run track as loose as possible and track turns very easy, with 1 finger!!! the 136x1.25 track is a big improvement to overall balance of sled. since stock suspension and track are boat anchor heavy, weight savings to rear is big over 35 lbs!! there are many other things i did, some worked and some did not any questions, e mail me because i have probably gone down every road to improve yamaha sxr and srx and you will get no bull shit about what works and what dont...............................................

The plastic on the 2000 Big Bear is very stiff and has cracked in many places from the smallest of resistance. Truly a disapppointment with the plastics. It's all time 4-wheel drive so the steering is a "bear". Shifting gets a little sticky in cold weather. It will go through anything though. Plenty of power. I plow with mine and minus the steering, does great with snow. It has done very weel for me as a work-horse, but have been a little less than happy with the cosmetics.

love the sled, only complaint is the fact that i have a difficulty in lifting front end in deep snow. it plows. also any water or wet conditions, cause clutch to slip. spring riding on wet ice is a disapointment. other than that, im sorry to see the sled be cut from the product line.

I just wanted say how good this ol'phazer is to me.Very reliable. The rear shock is a little worn out so it tends to ride like a baby buggy over moguls, what do expect its almost 15yrs old and Im 6'2 200lbs.But between this and an '80 ss440 I had both were very good to me. Thank you yamaha, sleds made to handle the test of time.

The best sled ive ever owned. I never lost a race, and shes bone stock. Not even studded. Ive even beat older srx's. There isnt a sled like it on the market and there never will be. Aint no 4 stroke gonna be better than any 2 stroke ever built. Planning triple chrome pipes with triple stingers, 192 studs, and transfer rods for this season.

I HAVE ONLY PUT 10 MILES ON IT SO FAR. I ADDED A HOLESHOT SKID PLATE, BLUE LIGHT COVER, AND TRACTION MATS ON THE RUNNING BOARDS. I HAVEN'T RODE IT ENOUGH TO KNOW HOW WELL IT RIDES, BUT I COULD TELL THAT THE STEERING WAS REALLY SMOOTH AND EASY TO MANEUVER. I DONT KNOW HOW MUCH POWER IT HAS, I MIGHT FIND OUT THIS WINTER, IF I FIND TIME TO SNOWMOBILE.

I'm satisfied but,Yamaha is the only one who makes snowmobile weak like aluminium paper. If you scratch it just a litle bit your machine is scrap. And dont try other snowmobiles if it has FAST M10 suspention you'll never want drive your yamaha again. I am a yamaha snowmobile fan. Can Yamaha do something please. The other compagnies can make a light weight and strong snowmobile.SO?

very nice all around sled.my srx is alot faster and handles studder bumps just as well and gets alot better traction.viper corners flater takes big bumps and jumps way better.i have no idea what people are talking about when they say the sled doesn't ride good.it's calabrated to ride fast and hard and it gets the job done!ithink these winers need a touring sled it would be suited much better to their slower "wannabe-racer" riding style.ok i'm done.

This machine performs excellent. Great power, very good suspension and shocks. The weight is up there, but only notice when lifting. Shitty attack angle for deep powder hill climbing, but a 156" w/suspension moved back would change that. When the snow is set up, it will climb with the best of them, and still have gas to get home.

Ii is equipped with PSI twin pipes,Hymark roller clutch kit, boyesen reeds, dial a jet,egt gauges, bender racing steering pivot. I just love this machine.Only one problem, need a bigger fuel tank.I just bought a Rx1 and hope this machine will be as good as my vmax.

Looking forward to the upcoming season to start my daughters off into sledding properly, purchased a '90 Sno-Sport this spring and this thing is great. Been looking for one for a couple years now, and I finaly found one. Only had a chance to run it on a lite dusting late last season, and is this thing fun, and quick, we'll have to govern this thing a little for the first year. Updates to come throughout the season. Boy will they be surprised X-mas morning, but how do I get it under the tree.

hi I have a 2001 xlt 800 with 102 hours...it has been in the shop 2 times to replace bloken bolts holding on the left factory installed sponson...the bolts are litterally broken again ..3 weeks ago they had to pry off the stainless steel plate holding on the bolts that hold on the sponson..they then re-fiberglassed it and used the same sponson that broke off..out of 4 bolts one is broken again..I can't seem to get the answers I am looking for from one of the only2 service centers around in my area to fix it.My warrenty is up in November? What can I do.They said this has never happened as far as they can remmber..well I love to ski and I take good care of the ski.I am a 36 year old female that is very athletic and I really need some support from YAMAHA to guide me as to what to do from here....wavesend of Lake Park Florida is the one that is servicing the ski...please help ....DANI from {Palm City Florida}

Everbody has probably seen my comments on this site before. The one's that speaks negativly about my SRX is my dumbass friends who are jealous because their sleds can't keep up with this beasty triple-triple. I have made some improvements to the sled by adding 192 studs, a bender power pkg., psi performance triple pipes, and race ported each cylinder to reach a whopping 205 bhp. I welcome all challenges for a race even the tried and true Thundercat 1000 who I have beaten before and will again. And if you continue down the page you will see someone listed as 4 banger talk about his mighty v-max 4, there's two things I would like to say to him 1) DON'T talk bad about the SRX and 2) Bring it!!!

EVERONE ELSE SEEMS TO BE MISSING OUT ON WHAT IS IMPORTANT. MY 2 NEW VENTURES ALLOW ME TO HAVE THE BEST OF BOTH WORLDS. THEY HANDLE THE TRAILS IN THE U.P. QUITE WELL. ROUGH OR FRESHLY GROOMED, I GET A SMOOTH RIDE WITH PLENTY OF SPEED. THEN WHEN I COME HOME I GET TO TAKE MY WIFE AND 3 GIRLS OUT FOR A ENJOYABLE 2-UP RIDE. (I EVEN GET MY LITTLE ONE IN FRONT OF ME FOR A 3-UP RIDE) OPEN FIELDS AND PASTURE LAND WITH ROLLING HILLS ARE A JOY ON THIS GREAT MACHINE. MAYBE MORE OF YOU SHOULD BE MORE CONCERNED WITH HAVING THIS TYPE OF FUN AND STOP WORRYING ABOUT a. NOT BEING ABLE TO GET PAST 120MPH, b. HOW MANY STUDS YOUR GOING TO PUT IN YOUR TRACK, c. HOW MUCH MONEY CAN YOU SPEND ON AFTERMARKET PERFORMANCE UPGRADES THAT YOUR NEVER SATISFIED WITH. SEE YOU ON THE TRAIL. I'M THE ONE SOBER AND SMILING!

I have owned this machine since new. It has been an awesome machine. I have ridden from -25C to +15C and from 2000-8000 ft. It always runs great. A thin head gasket is a must. Bender can to get rid of the silent stock exhaust. Minor tweaking is all that's needed. The "smart carb" system always has kept the engine running good but with some minor adjustments you can get rid of a lot of the safety margin and get this thing running really good. I have put on a lot of extra miles while my friends have been adjusting things under their hood. This is my first Yami and impressed how the equipment stands up compared to the other brands I have owned.

ok i own a beartracker and its ok is some terms but in others it sucks! Ive had it for 6 months now and guess what i am still on my 2nd flat tire and the pull start ripped off after abuseing it after 3 months because it had some wires loose in the electric start but it does tow a big load and everything. we bought it for 2400$ at sherm coopers in hamilton new jersey lucky me , but i put 5 friends on it at a time and it still moves after holding about 800 pounds so i guess i am thankful ! so if you want to here some funny stories e-mail me or my aol screen name is dirtbikemaniac98 but take my advice treat it good and she'll be nice to ya and live for a long time!!!

Gteat trail slead bought it bone stock with poor clutching and a low compreshion ratio that gives it A lazy low end.The stock ski incerts wair quickley its cheeper in the long run to buy after market plastic skis plus you save weight and gain top end speed. But with a clutch kit, thinner head gasket and plastic skis you will have a great sled.

I absolutely love this sled, I was a die hard Cat man for years, My previous 3 sleds were all cats, b but I was getting so tired of spending money on gas and clutches that I started looking for a Yamaha sled, just because i had a Yammy waverunner which was trouble free. The only thing that took some getting use to was the suspension, but I'm starting to get it adjusted right just takes alot of fine tuning. Its pretty much all stock except ceramic coated pistons and 168 carbide studs. The only other mods i plan on making are a blue headlight cover, and a low black windsheild.

Gotta VMax-4 with PSI quad pipes, fastest thing i ever rode. 160+ HP. Tops out around 130mph. Don't know what the big deal is with the SRX's. Gotta buddy with a 2001 srx with head work, silencers, and a clutch kit that won't even come close. Vipers are like kiddy sleds. Takes a man to ride one of these. Can't hook up though, the big 4 just makes too much torque. You suckers on T-cats seem like your sittin still. Mach Z's don't get it done either. 800 storm's? (like they're sittin still!) Maybe the mighty RX-1 will come close, can't wait to see. Still is the best performance sled Yamaha ever built(made for 1 year longer than the so called "blisterin" srx.) Rock on V-4 owners!
